Why a Workshop in Kranj Builds Trading Infrastructure for EU Professionals

Heritage Workshop was founded on one conviction: that the precision available to institutional desks should be accessible to any disciplined systematic trader.

What We Build and Who It Is For

Heritage Workshop produces one product: a professional-grade AI trading terminal for systematic traders who treat strategy execution as an engineering problem.

Heritage Workshop was established in Kranj in 2021 by a team with backgrounds in quantitative finance, real-time systems engineering, and EU financial regulation. The company's sole product is the Heritage Workshop AI Trading Terminal — a platform that connects live market data, automated strategy execution, hard risk controls, and structured backtesting into a single, auditable environment. Our clients are primarily individual systematic traders, boutique trading desks, and small fund managers operating within EU regulatory frameworks. They share a common need: a tool that does precisely what their strategy specifies, records every decision in an auditable log, and enforces risk limits at the infrastructure layer — not as a configuration panel that a signal can ignore. We built for that need because no existing product on the market satisfied it at a price point accessible to operators below the level of large institutions. We currently serve active clients across Slovenia, Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands, with the majority running between two and eight concurrent live strategies.

How the Team Works — Process, Values, and Honest Limits

We operate as a focused engineering team of eleven people — seven in product and infrastructure, four in client operations and compliance support.

Every feature in the terminal began as a documented client complaint about an existing platform — a stop order that didn't trigger at the specified price, a drawdown limit that a runaway signal bypassed, a backtest report that omitted slippage. Our development cycle is driven by that list. We run two-week sprints, hold a public changelog, and retire features that add surface area without solving a measurable problem. The platform has processed over 4.2 million strategy-driven orders since launch, and our reported execution deviation rate — the gap between the price the strategy specified and the fill the venue returned — averages 0.3 basis points across all instruments and sessions. We are transparent about what the terminal does not do: it is not a signal provider, it does not suggest strategies, and it cannot guarantee that a strategy that backtested well will perform consistently in live markets — past performance is a property of historical data, not a prediction. Market conditions change, and the responsibility for strategy design and capital allocation sits entirely with the operator. Our role is to ensure that whatever the operator has specified is executed with the highest mechanical precision we can achieve.

“The Heritage Workshop team answered a detailed technical question about their FIX connectivity specification within three hours of me sending the email. That kind of response from a small software company is unusual, and it told me something about how seriously they take their infrastructure. The platform itself confirmed that impression — every spec in their documentation matches what the system actually does.”

Four Principles That Shape Every Product Decision

These are not aspirational values written for a marketing page — they are the criteria against which every feature request is evaluated.

Precision Over Features

We add a new feature only when it demonstrably narrows the gap between strategy intent and live execution. A terminal with 200 features that each work at 95% fidelity is less useful than one with 20 features that work at 99.9%.

Full Auditability

Every order decision — placed, modified, or rejected — is written to an immutable audit log with a microsecond timestamp. Clients can export the full log at any time in CSV or JSON format. There is no black box in Heritage Workshop's execution layer.

Honest Risk Framing

We do not use language that implies the platform generates returns or reduces market risk. It automates strategy execution and enforces the boundaries the operator sets. Market risk remains with the operator, always.

Proportionate Pricing

Institutional-grade execution infrastructure should not require an institutional-sized budget. Our pricing tiers are calibrated so that a disciplined individual trader on the Starter plan has access to the same execution engine and risk-control layer as an Institutional client.
